I’ll be sending out the link to the slide show from tonight’s graduation tomorrow. I’m also burning DVD’s of the slide show this weekend, so I’ll have a bunch of copies for you all then.

I also have a long and emotional post that I’m just too exhausted to post tonight.

I literally cried the whole way home to Asheville knowing that I won’t have any of you in class ever again (unless you want to drop in, which you are certainly welcome to do). I’m so happy for each and everyone of you as you move ahead in life. Finishing Middle School is a major accomplishment, especially in a demanding environment such as SDS.

More tomorrow…

I’ve definitely enjoyed my week “off” so far by hanging out with MH and Anna.

Looks like Spartanburg District 7 is on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, so we’ll be starting school at 10 am.

From Mr. Perkinson:

If we are on a two-hour delay, we will begin at 10am with a 10 min advisory. 3rd period will begin as usual and the rest of the day will be as normally scheduled.

8th graders will meet with Ms. Woodyard as previously scheduled during 3rd period or co-curriculars (Art/Band/Robotics).

Homecoming Update:

Hall Night is scheduled to go on as planned tonight.

Friday:

If weather is uneventful, morning activities will take place as scheduled. Hall visits, pep-rally, skits, and Middle School games. Asheville Christian School will let us know by 10:00 a.m.on Friday if they are able to travel tomorrow afternoon.They are making every possible effort to be here. If they are able to come, evening activities will resume. If their teams can not make it, the last activity for the day will be MS games. All evening activities will be cancelled. (Varsity games, Homecoming Court, Sports Hall of Fame, US dance.) In this event, Homecoming Court will be held during Upper School games on Tuesday, February 9th.

If we have a 2 hour delay: Pep rally will begin at 10:45 a.m. and schedules will be adjusted to accomodate the late start, through MS games. Evening activities will still be contingent on Asheville Christian School’s decision.

If school is cancelled: Every effort will be made to keep the hall decor up for viewing until Monday morning. In this event, Homecoming Court will be held during Upper School games on Tuesday, February 9th.

Please check your email and the website before noon on Friday, to find out if Asheville Christian School will be able to travel.

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather tomorrow. The Griffins are ready to shoot some hoops!

We just received a grant from the American Nuclear Society for our Robotics program at SDS!

We’ve been working on the grant for a couple of months, so it’s great that the hard work will pay off in new supplies and tech for Robotics.

Riley remembered reading the book when she was in third grade, saying she couldn’t wait for the chance to try out to play Imogene Herdman.

‘I didn’t want to get my hopes up, in case I didn’t get the part,’ Riley said. ‘When I found out I got it, I jumped out of the car, did a happy dance and turned a few cartwheels.’

Riley said she wanted the part because Imogene seems tough on the outside but has a soft side.

‘Imogene really takes it seriously when she plays Mary in the church play,’ Riley said. ‘She is a deeper character than the others. There is a lot going on with her.’”
