Article Abstracts

by Sam Harrelson on October 29, 2009

The abstract for your article on the research/experiment/investigation you are doing is due Friday Oct 29 at midnight.

Here are the points we agreed to in class today for the abstracts:

- 3-5 sentences
- No more than 150 words. No less than 75 words.
- Topic sentence, 2-3 description sentences, conclusion sentence

Your abstract should cover what you expect your research/experiment/investigation to uncover or what result you hypothesize you’ll have. We’ll tweak the abstracts when we’re done to reflect what actually happened.

We’ll also be peer-reviewing the abstracts next Monday and Tuesday then starting on our journal article projects on Wednesday – Friday.

Here’s a little “science fair” abstract tutorial I’ve found that might be helpful. It’s about science fair projects, but the principles still apply to the type of journal article abstracts we’re doing.

Let me know if you have any questions!
