Today in class, we started Quiz 4 (Metals, Nonmetals and More on Periodic Table).

Here are the steps to completing the quiz:

1. Invent an element (be creative) that does not exist. The element must not have an atomic number that already exists (so, above 114).
2. Give details of the the 8 areas below about your element.
3. Draw your atom’s periodic table square. The element must not have a chemical symbol that already exists.
4. Be creative (color, concept, details, neatness)
5. Please use complete sentences with proper punctuation and grammar!

- Atomic Mass (number of protons and neutrons)
- Atomic Number (number of protons)
- Metal or Non-metal (solid, liquid or gas… or a mixture)
- Characteristics (color, chemical and physical properties)
- Chemical Symbol
- Isotopes
- In which Group is the element located?
- How many electrons are needed to be stable? (page 130 in your book if a nonmetal)

The quiz is due by the end of class tomorrow.

Again, make sure that all of your math adds up (atomic number / atomic mass) and that you have all the details correct!

Your grade will be determined by your attention to details like if your element is in the right group, has the appropriate characteristics, etc.
