This extra credit opportunity expires Tuesday September 15 at 8:00am!

You can earn 1 point on your grade (which would bring up an 83 on a quiz to a 100!) by doing the following fun activity:

1) Go to PeriodicTable.com
2) Look over the metals on the periodic table.
3) Find a metal that really interests you due to some property.
4) Find something made from that metal or some application of the metal.
5) Post that info about your metal here in the comments.

That’s it!

(Check out gallium, by the way)

Like Kelly I( also think Mercury is interesting because it is the only element that will melt in room temperature and if it weren’t poisonous we could play with it! Mercury is in tuna sushi, Mercury fever thermometer and
Vermilion red paint.
But if Mercury is in fish wouldn’t people who eat it die because it is poisonous???? :) :) :) :) :)

Copper:
Most commonly used in wiring because it is a very good conductor. We also use it in pennies (mixed with other elements to keep them from bending in your hand of course). Is extremely ductile and malleable.
Oh and if you wear a ring made out of copper it turns your finger blue, which is just kind of weird.

I think nickel is interesting because some people are allergic to it witch is odd because it’s a metal not like flowers or cats.

Titanium interests me because it is somewhat in a stage of a jet engine. An example is the top part of some hammers.

I found out that Krypton is not that thing that makes Superman crippled, but instead it can be used in incandescent light bulbs, and it makes an awesome shade of blue! Also those really annoying, super bright flashlights use them. I think they me be those really, really bright blue lights in some cars.

Copper:
Copper is used for many things such as wire, jewelry, coins, BBs, and even wire hair brushes. The boiling point is 2927 degrees celcius, the atomic weight is 63.546, and the symbol is Cu.

Radium Ra88..this is some wierd stuff. Radium WAS used in self luminous clocks and watch hands…UNTIL workers died from it. It is radioactive!!! Antique Watches are still radioactive and will be for 1000 Years. Radioum has a 1/2 life (whatever that is) of 1600 years.. Jade
